In patients with type 2 diabetes, elevated serum leptin levels are an independent predictor of ischemic heart disease incidence, providing prognostic value beyond traditional risk factors and non-invasive vascular markers.

For individuals with Type 2 Diabetes, high leptin levels signal a higher risk for heart disease, independent of weight or cholesterol. While leptin testing is not yet standard, managing inflammation and metabolic health remains critical. This data supports the importance of comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessment beyond just blood pressure and lipids.

GoodSupportsHIGH confidence
Our data support the use of serum leptin in type 2 diabetes to add independent prognostic information in terms of ischemic heart disease when compared with traditional cardiovascular risk factors.
