Higher levels of the satiety hormone GLP-1 are associated with lower salt taste preference specifically following a low-fat diet.

When eating a low-fat diet, higher levels of the gut hormone GLP-1 are associated with a lower preference for salty foods. This suggests that GLP-1 may play a role in modulating salt taste preferences specifically in the context of low-fat eating.
