Adherence
Time-restricted eating (TRE) with an 8-hour window and ad libitum intake reduces body weight, fat mass, and visceral fat in overweight adults with a baseline eating window ≥14 hours, primarily through reduced eating occasions rather than explicit caloric restriction.
If you currently eat over 14 hours a day, try compressing your eating into an 8-hour window (e.g., 10 am to 6 pm) without changing what or how much you eat. This natural reduction in eating frequency may lead to modest weight and fat loss over 12 weeks.
ModerateSupportsMEDIUM confidence
Compared with non-TRE, TRE decreased the number of eating occasions, weight, lean mass, and visceral fat (all P ≤ 0.05).
Why this rating
Randomized controlled trial but small sample size (n=20) and short duration (12 weeks), classified as a feasibility study.
