Resistance training elevates resting mixed muscle protein synthesis rates by approximately 48% without changing resting myofibrillar protein synthesis rates.
After 8 weeks of training, your body's baseline protein turnover increases, specifically for non-muscle proteins like collagen and enzymes. This doesn't mean you are building more muscle at rest, but rather that your cellular maintenance is more active. This is a sign of adaptation, not necessarily hypertrophy.
