Habitual consumption of tuna or other broiled/baked fish (dietary omega-3 fatty acids) is associated with favorable Heart Rate Variability (HRV) indices, specifically indicating greater vagal tone, moderated baroreceptor responses, and reduced erratic sinoatrial node firing in older adults.

To support heart rhythm health and autonomic balance, aim to consume tuna or other broiled/baked fish regularly (e.g., 1-2 times per week or more). This dietary pattern is associated with improved vagal tone and more stable heart rhythm patterns, which may contribute to a lower risk of cardiac death. Avoid fried fish preparations, as they did not show these benefits.
