Adherence
Both Baduanjin exercise and a combined Baduanjin/Low-Carbohydrate Diet intervention significantly reduce drug craving scores (Visual Analog Scale) in overweight individuals with drug addiction, with no significant difference between the two intervention groups.
Drug craving reduction in this setting was driven by the structured rehabilitation environment rather than the specific exercise or diet protocol. Both exercise and combined interventions reduced craving, but so did general activity.
ModerateSupportsMEDIUM confidence
The three groups showed reductions in visual analog scale score distribution over time (P < 0.05)... The efficiency improved over time, and the craving decreased significantly at weeks 4 (P = 0.002) and 8 (P < 0.001).
Why this rating
RCT, but the effect was not specific to the intervention groups.

More from this paper
- An 8-week combined intervention of Baduanjin (moderate-intensity mind-body exercise) and a low-carbohydrate diet (70-130g carbs/day) significantly reduces body weight, BMI, waist circumference, and body fat percentage in overweight individuals with drug addiction compared to general physical activity alone.Moderate
- The combination of Baduanjin and a low-carbohydrate diet is more effective than Baduanjin alone at improving lipid metabolism (reducing Total Cholesterol and Triglycerides) in overweight individuals with drug addiction.Moderate
