Resistance exercise decreases the phosphorylation of eIF2Bε, a mechanism that potentiates the feeding-induced stimulation of p70S6K1 and rpS6, thereby enhancing muscle protein synthesis signaling in young men.

To maximize muscle growth, you must combine resistance training with adequate nutrition. This study shows that exercise changes how your muscles respond to food by deactivating inhibitory signals (eIF2Bε phosphorylation). Without the exercise stimulus, feeding alone does not trigger the same level of anabolic signaling (p70S6K1 and rpS6) as the combination of both.
