Acute resistance training enhances or maintains cognitive performance (specifically visuospatial processing) in healthy older adults, regardless of exercise intensity.

For older adults, engaging in a single session of resistance training (whether heavy or light) can boost visuospatial processing skills without causing mental fatigue. You do not need to avoid weights due to fear of 'brain drain'; starting with lighter weights is just as effective for cognitive benefits as heavier weights.
