Adherence

Visual dietary decision aids that incorporate specific nutritional data (sodium, calories) and budget constraints facilitate immediate, positive behavioral dialogue and choice selection in patients with severe mental illness.

For patients with severe mental illness, standard verbal advice often fails due to cognitive or financial barriers. Use laminated, visual cards that show specific food choices, sodium/calorie counts, and budget-friendly alternatives. Discuss these cards during home visits to open conversations about healthier, affordable options.
