Hormonal

Pharmacotherapy (sibutramine, orlistat) is effective for weight loss only when used in combination with lifestyle modifications (diet and exercise).

If you meet the medical criteria (BMI >=30 or >=27 with comorbidities), medications like sibutramine or orlistat can help. However, they are not magic bullets. They work best when you also make changes to your diet and exercise habits. Consult a physician to determine if pharmacotherapy is appropriate for you.

GoodConditionalHIGH confidence
When medically indicated, pharmacotherapy may be used for weight loss, but pharmacotherapy appears to be most effective when used in combination with modifications of both eating and exercise behaviors.
