Switch to low-glycemic carbohydrates (like whole grains, legumes, and non-starchy vegetables) for five weeks. Do not try to restrict calories; keep your food intake normal. You may not see a change on the scale, but you will likely lose abdominal fat and improve your blood lipid profile due to lower insulin spikes.
A 5-week period of the LGI diet lowered plasma triacylglycerol excursion after lunch... These modifications were associated with a decrease in the total fat mass by ~700 g (P < 0.05) and a tendency to increase lean body mass (P < 0.07) without any change in body weight.
