Adherence
Group treatment combined with regular exercise yields the greatest short-term weight loss compared to other intervention combinations.
For the best weight loss results, combine group therapy with regular moderate-intensity exercise. This approach leads to significantly greater weight loss than any other combination tested. Commit to weekly group sessions and at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
Evaluation of combined interventions revealed a greater short-term weight loss in those involved in group and exercise therapy (n = 46) versus individual treatment with no exercise therapy (n = 9)... percent weight loss at 12 weeks for group exercisers was 13.5% versus 8.5% for individual treatment without exercise (P < 0.001).
Why this rating
Retrospective chart review, non-randomized, small sample size (n=86), but statistically significant results.
