Short sleep duration (≤5-6 hours per night) is associated with a significantly increased risk of coronary heart disease (RR 1.48) and stroke (RR 1.15) compared to the reference group of 7-8 hours.
Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Consistently sleeping 5 hours or less per night is associated with a significantly higher risk of heart disease and stroke. While you cannot change your genetics, prioritizing sleep duration is a modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular health.
Short duration of sleep was associated with a greater risk of developing or dying of CHD (RR 1.48, 95% CI 1.22–1.80, P < 0.0001), stroke (1.15, 1.00–1.31, P = 0.047)...
Why this rating
Large-scale meta-analysis of prospective studies with high statistical power and no publication bias, though observational design limits causal inference.

- Continued weekly administration of 2.4 mg subcutaneous semaglutide prevents weight regain and promotes further weight loss in adults with overweight or obesity, whereas switching to placebo results in significant weight regain.Strong
