Higher protein doses (up to 2 g/kg/day) may be appropriate for persons with severe illness, injury, or pro-inflammatory/catabolic states.

If you have a severe illness, injury, or are in a catabolic state, your protein intake might need to be increased to up to 2 grams per kilogram of body weight, but this should be determined by your healthcare provider.
