High-catechin green tea extract reduces systolic blood pressure in individuals with initial systolic blood pressure of 130 mm Hg or higher, but not in those with lower initial blood pressure.

If you have mild hypertension (SBP >= 130 mm Hg) and visceral obesity, consuming ~583 mg of catechins daily from green tea extract may help lower your systolic blood pressure. This effect was not seen in individuals with normal blood pressure.
