Once-weekly long-acting release (LAR) exenatide (2.0 mg) significantly reduces HbA1c and body weight in patients with type 2 diabetes compared to placebo.
If you have type 2 diabetes and struggle with blood sugar and weight, a once-weekly injection of exenatide (2.0 mg) can significantly lower your A1c and help you lose weight. It works by mimicking a natural hormone that regulates blood sugar. While nausea is a common side effect, it is usually mild and improves over time. This treatment is designed for people who are already taking metformin or managing their diet and exercise but need additional help.
Exenatide LAR reduced mean (± SE) A1C by −1.4 ± 0.3% (0.8 mg) and −1.7 ± 0.3% (2.0 mg), compared with −0.4 ± 0.3% with placebo LAR (P < 0.0001 for both)... Subjects receiving 2.0 mg exenatide LAR had body weight reductions (−3.8 ± 1.4 kg) (P < 0.05)
