Adherence

Supervised exercise interventions produce larger reductions in depressive symptoms than unsupervised interventions.

To maximize mental health benefits, seek out supervised exercise programs. The data shows supervised exercise has large effects, while unsupervised exercise has smaller effects. If supervision is not possible, start with any exercise, but recognize that professional guidance significantly boosts efficacy.
