The BclI polymorphism (G allele) is associated with increased glucocorticoid sensitivity, abdominal obesity in middle-aged subjects, and lower BMI/lean mass in the elderly.
If you carry the BclI G-allele, your body is more sensitive to cortisol. In middle age, focus on managing abdominal fat. In old age, prioritize preserving lean muscle mass, as your sensitivity may contribute to muscle atrophy. Regular resistance training and stress management are key.
The G allele also was associated with increased sensitivity to GCs. In middle-aged subjects, the G allele of this BclI polymorphism was associated with increased abdominal obesity, while at older age, a lower BMI was found, accompanied by a tendency towards lower lean body mass.
