Residing in high-walkability neighborhoods is associated with a slower increase in overweight/obesity prevalence and a significant decline in diabetes incidence compared to low-walkability neighborhoods.

If you have control over where you live, prioritize neighborhoods with high walkability scores (high density, mixed destinations, connected streets). This environmental factor is associated with stabilizing weight and reducing diabetes risk over time, independent of some individual lifestyle factors.
