Adherence
Trait sleep reactivity is a significant independent risk factor for the development of depression, mediated by the onset of insomnia.
Addressing sleep reactivity and preventing insomnia may be a critical strategy for reducing the risk of developing depression, especially in those prone to stress-induced sleep disruption.
GoodSupportsHIGH confidence
Trait sleep reactivity also constituted a significant risk for depression (OR = 1.67; P < 0.01) two years later (Time 3). Insomnia at Time 2 significantly mediated this effect (P < 0.05).
Why this rating
Longitudinal design with 2-year follow-up for depression, controlling for baseline depression, age, and gender.
