Peripheral administration of Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) reduces food intake in a dose-dependent manner in both normal weight and obese subjects, although obese subjects have a blunted postprandial GLP-1 response.

GLP-1 reduces food intake in both lean and obese people. However, obese people have a blunted natural response. Pharmacological GLP-1 agonists (like exenatide and liraglutide) are designed to overcome this by being resistant to degradation and providing a stronger signal.
