A reduction in the FibroScan-aspartate aminotransferase (FAST) score of at least 0.22 points after 72 weeks of semaglutide treatment is associated with achieving the primary histological endpoint of NASH resolution without worsening of fibrosis.

If you are being treated for NASH with semaglutide, a reduction in your FAST score of 0.22 points or more after 72 weeks is a strong indicator that your liver is improving histologically (NASH resolution without worsening fibrosis). This non-invasive metric may help doctors monitor your progress without requiring repeated liver biopsies, although further validation is needed.

ModerateSupportsMEDIUM confidence
A reduction in FAST score of more than 0.22 points after semaglutide treatment was associated with meeting the primary endpoint (sensitivity 78%; specificity 60%; positive likelihood ratio 1.26; negative likelihood ratio 0.25; odds ratio 4.93).

Why this rating

This is a post-hoc analysis of a phase 2b trial, which is lower evidence than a pre-specified primary endpoint analysis of a phase 3 trial.
