Among middle-aged female workers, high consumption of confectionary and noodles, and low intake of vegetables and fish are significantly associated with poor sleep quality.
If you are a working woman struggling with sleep, look at your food sources. High intake of sweets (confectionary) and refined carbs (noodles) is linked to worse sleep, while vegetables and fish are linked to better sleep. Also, avoid energy drinks and sugar-sweetened beverages, and try not to skip breakfast or eat irregularly. These changes are easier to implement than trying to force more exercise or sleep directly.
After adjustment for potential confounding factors... high intakes of vegetables and fish were significantly related to good sleep quality (p for trend 0.002 and 0.04, respectively) and high consumptions of confectionary and noodles were related to poor sleep quality (p for trend 0.004 and 0.02, respectively).
