If you exercise 6+ times a week at high intensity, monitor your sleep. If you experience trouble falling asleep, consider reducing frequency or intensity. Leisure-time walking does not show this negative association.

Engaging in excessively frequent and intense physical activities has been linked to difficulties initiating sleep, making them potential risk factors for insomnia. Specifically, having a high physical load six or more times a week was identified as an independent risk factor for trouble falling asleep (OR = 1.9; 95%CI= 1.4–3.4, p = 0.001).
