Six months of GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy (exenatide or liraglutide) significantly reduces intrahepatic lipid (liver fat) in obese patients with type 2 diabetes, with the magnitude of reduction correlating strongly with improved glycemic control (HbA1c) rather than total body weight loss.

If you have type 2 diabetes and fatty liver, GLP-1 medications like exenatide or liraglutide can significantly reduce liver fat (by ~42% over 6 months). This benefit is closely tied to better blood sugar control rather than just weight loss.
