This research suggests that strategies which moderately reduce the rate of fat breakdown (lipolysis) in adipose tissue may improve how your body handles insulin and glucose, without causing weight gain. This is achieved by shifting fat cell metabolism towards using glucose and creating new fatty acids internally, rather than releasing them into the bloodstream. While not a direct lifestyle prescription, it highlights that high rates of fat mobilization can be detrimental to insulin sensitivity in obesity.
Thus, reduction in WAT lipolysis reshapes FA fluxes without increase of fat mass and improves glucose metabolism through cell-autonomous induction of fat cell de novo lipogenesis, which contributes to improved insulin sensitivity.
