The body's vastly larger capacity for fat storage compared to carbohydrate storage dictates that higher dietary fat fractions lead to higher steady-state adiposity, as the system prioritizes maintaining glycogen levels over fat levels.

If you eat a diet high in fat, your body will likely settle at a higher body fat level than if you ate a diet lower in fat, even if you eat the same number of calories. This is because your body prioritizes keeping your glycogen (carbohydrate) stores stable. To lower your steady-state body fat, you may need to reduce the proportion of fat in your diet, not just the total calories.
