Hormonal
A mixed herbal preparation containing Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana (YGD) significantly delays gastric emptying and induces weight loss in overweight patients over 45 days.
Take three capsules of a Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana blend 15 minutes before your main meals. In a 45-day trial, this led to an average 5.1 kg weight loss in overweight individuals without requiring them to change their diet. The effect appears to work by slowing down how fast your stomach empties, making you feel full sooner. Long-term use (12 months) stabilized weight without further loss or gain.
The herbal preparation, YGD capsules, significantly delayed gastric emptying, reduced the time to perceived gastric fullness and induced significant weight loss over 45 days in overweight patients treated in a primary health care context.
Why this rating
The study uses a double-blind placebo-controlled design but has a small sample size (n=47 for the main trial) and short duration (45 days).
