Empagliflozin (10 mg/day) significantly reduces liver fibrosis (measured by liver stiffness measurement) in patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease compared to placebo, and reduces liver stiffness more effectively than pioglitazone.

If you have Type 2 Diabetes and fatty liver disease, ask your doctor about empagliflozin (10 mg daily). This study shows it can significantly reduce liver stiffness (a sign of scarring/fibrosis) better than the alternative drug pioglitazone, and better than a placebo. It also helps reduce body weight and visceral fat. Ensure you maintain moderate physical activity and follow dietary advice as part of your treatment.
