Adherence
Videoconference-delivered Group Lifestyle Balance (GLB) weight loss intervention achieves statistically equivalent weight loss and higher retention rates compared to traditional in-person delivery over a 12-week period.
If you struggle with attending in-person weight loss classes due to busy schedules or frequent moves, a videoconference-based program like GLB is a viable alternative. This study shows that remote delivery can result in the same amount of weight loss (approx. 5-6% body weight) as in-person classes, while actually keeping more people in the program. To replicate this, you need a reliable internet connection and a smart scale that shares data with your counselor.
there was no difference in percent body weight after 12 weeks of intervention (6.2 ± 3.2% and 5.3 ± 3.4% for in-person and videoconference at 12 weeks, respectively; p = 0.60)... Participant retention was 70% and 96% in the in-person and videoconference groups, respectively (p = 0.04).
Why this rating
Non-randomized trial design with a small sample size (N=43) and short duration (12 weeks), though results are statistically significant for retention.
