Hormonal

Tirzepatide, a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist, demonstrates superior kidney and cardiovascular benefits compared to GLP-1 RAs alone, including significant reductions in albuminuria and eGFR decline.

Tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound) is a newer option that targets both GLP-1 and GIP hormones. It may offer better kidney and heart protection than older GLP-1 drugs. Discuss with your doctor if you have kidney disease, as it can slow kidney function decline significantly. It is also highly effective for weight loss.

GoodSupportsHIGH confidence
Evidence continues to build that supports benefits to the heart and kidneys of the dual GLP-1/glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist tirzepatide... tirzepatide use was associated with a slower rate of eGFR decline, lower albuminuria, and significantly reduced occurrence of the composite kidney endpoint
