Adherence
Regular use of a web-based behavioral weight management program (BMIQ) combined with standard medical care (physician/RD visits and pharmacotherapy) significantly increases the likelihood of achieving clinically significant weight loss (≥5% and ≥10%) compared to standard care alone.
If you are struggling with weight loss despite seeing a doctor and dietitian, ask about adding a structured online behavioral program. This study suggests that engaging with at least 4 online sessions over 6 months, alongside your medical treatments, significantly boosts your chances of losing 5-10% of your body weight. It’s not a replacement for medical care, but a powerful tool to make your existing care more effective.
Regular BMIQ usage was an independent predictor of patients achieving both greater than or equal to 5% and greater than or equal to 10% weight loss at 6 months.
Why this rating
Retrospective chart review with a control group (defined by usage levels <4 vs ≥4 sessions) but no randomization; potential for selection bias.
