Adherence
A post-operative 'Difficulty to control eating' score of ≤7 at 3 months after sleeve gastrectomy independently predicts achieving ≥25% total weight loss at one year.
If you had sleeve gastrectomy, use a validated eating control questionnaire (like the CoEQ) around the 3-month mark. A low score on 'difficulty to control eating' (≤7) is a strong signal you will likely achieve significant weight loss (≥25%). If your score is high, seek early behavioral intervention to improve control, as this is a better predictor of success than how much you weighed in the first few weeks.
Score ≤7 at 3 months was strongly independently associated with a successful weight loss target of 25%TWL at one-year post-SG (Relative Risk 4.43; 95%CI 1.06–18.54; p=0.042).
Why this rating
Prospective longitudinal cohort study with statistical adjustment, but limited by small sample size (n=41) and single-center design.
