Adherence
A personalized lifestyle coaching program combining multi-omic data with behavioral support produces clinically meaningful improvements in HbA1c comparable to landmark randomized controlled trials.
Making sustainable lifestyle changes through coaching can lower your blood sugar levels (HbA1c) just as effectively as intensive lifestyle programs used in major medical trials. This means that consistent, coached changes to diet and activity can have a powerful impact on your diabetes risk, potentially avoiding or delaying the need for medication.
we found an adjusted average decrease in HbA1c of about 0.20% at 12 months in the entire study population... The Diabetes Prevention Program, a RCT comparing intensive lifestyle intervention vs. metformin/standard care, saw slightly less than a 0.1% decrease in HbA1c at 12 months for those in the lifestyle intervention arm.
Why this rating
Observational study without a control group; results are compared to an external RCT, but internal validity is limited by lack of randomization.
