Adherence

A theory-driven mobile app intervention (Vegethon) significantly increases daily vegetable consumption in overweight adults compared to a wait-listed control.

Use a dedicated mobile app to track your vegetable intake. The app in this study used simple icons and allowed half-serving increments to make logging easy. Set a daily goal (e.g., 5 servings) and log your intake daily. This behavioral tool can significantly increase your vegetable consumption, even if you are already overweight and trying to lose weight.

ModerateSupportsLOW confidence
Consumption of vegetables was significantly greater among the intervention versus control condition at the end of the 12-week pilot study (adjusted mean difference: 7.4 servings; 95% CI 1.4-13.5; P=.02).
