Energy balance

Increases in total and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) during the post-weight loss maintenance phase are associated with less weight regain (or greater weight loss) one year after the intervention.

After you reach your weight loss goal, don't stop moving. This study found that people who kept up or increased their moderate-to-vigorous exercise (like brisk walking or jogging) after losing weight were much more likely to keep it off one year later. Treat your post-goal activity as a permanent part of your lifestyle, not just a tool for getting to the goal.

GoodSupportsMEDIUM confidence
Changes in total PA (r = –0.50; P = 0.04) and moderate-to-vigorous PA (r = –0.61; P = 0.01) between post-WL and follow-up were associated with 1-year weight change.

Why this rating

Same strengths as N1, but the sample size for the 1-year follow-up is even smaller (n=18), reducing statistical power.
