Discontinuation of insulin is achieved at a mean weight reduction of 11% of initial body weight, while sulfonylureas require 14% and sitagliptin 7.1%.

Different diabetes medications come off at different weight loss milestones. Sitagliptin may be discontinued after ~7% weight loss, insulin after ~11%, and sulfonylureas after ~14%. Your doctor will monitor your blood sugar to determine the right time to adjust each specific medication.
