High consumption of trans-unsaturated fatty acids is associated with a significantly increased risk of developing laparoscopically confirmed endometriosis.
Minimize intake of trans-unsaturated fats, which are primarily found in commercially fried foods, margarine, and crackers, as high consumption is linked to a significantly higher risk of endometriosis. This supports public health efforts to remove trans fats from the food supply.
GoodRefutesHIGH confidence
those in the highest quintile of trans-unsaturated fat intake were 48% more likely to be diagnosed with endometriosis (95% CI = 1.17 –1.88; Pt = 0.001).
Why this rating
Same high-quality prospective cohort design with laparoscopic confirmation.
