Skeletal muscle mass can be preserved during significant weight loss induced by incretin-based medications if the patient adheres to a program involving twice-weekly strength training and adequate protein intake (60-90 g/day).

To prevent muscle loss while losing weight with these medications, you must actively train. Perform strength training at least twice a week and ensure you are eating 60-90 grams of protein daily. This combination helps stabilize your muscle mass after the initial months of weight loss.
