Regular resistance training attenuates the acute increase in muscle protein breakdown (FBR) and synthesis (FSR) following intense pleiometric exercise compared to untrained individuals.

If you are experienced in resistance training, your body becomes more efficient at handling intense workouts. You will see a smaller spike in muscle protein breakdown and synthesis immediately after training compared to when you were a beginner. This does not mean you aren't growing; it means your muscles are adapted to handle the stress with less damage and turnover. Focus on consistency and progressive overload rather than chasing acute soreness or 'maximal' spikes in synthesis.

We conclude that pleiometric muscle contractions induce an increase in mixed muscle protein synthetic rate within 4 h of completion of an exercise bout but that resistance training attenuates this increase. A single bout of pleiometric muscle contractions also increased the FBR of mixed muscle protein in UT but not in T subjects.
