Intensive lifestyle interventions that reduce nutrient load (weight loss) improve cardiovascular outcomes in obese type 2 diabetes patients, whereas intensive insulin therapy in similar patients increases mortality.
For obese diabetics, losing weight through diet and exercise is a powerful way to protect your heart. Unlike high-dose insulin, which can increase mortality in this group, weight loss reduces the burden on your body without causing metabolic stress.
