For type 2 diabetes prevention, reducing body weight (BMI) is more effective than improving cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) alone.

To prevent type 2 diabetes, losing weight is more impactful than just getting fit. If you are overweight, focus on weight loss first, as it reduces diabetes risk more significantly than improving fitness alone. However, maintaining fitness is still beneficial and should be part of your overall strategy.
