Consuming a low-carbohydrate diet first during weight loss maintenance attenuates the negative relationship between high insulin response and resting energy expenditure.
If you have a history of high insulin levels, starting your weight maintenance phase with a low-carbohydrate diet (10% carbs) may help protect your metabolism. This approach appears to 'reset' your insulin response, preventing the sharp drop in energy expenditure that often triggers weight regain in this group.
GoodQualifiesHIGH confidence
The inverse relationship between insulin-30 and REE was substantially attenuated when the low-carbohydrate diet was consumed first.
Why this rating
Crossover design within the same study, strong statistical interaction (P=0.005).
