Energy balance

Moderate weight loss (5-10%) achieved through a low-calorie diet and lifestyle intervention significantly improves weight-specific health-related quality of life (HRQOL), particularly physical function, self-esteem, and sexual life, and these improvements are largely maintained during a 52-week weight loss maintenance phase despite minor weight regain.

If you are overweight and lose 5-10% of your body weight through a structured diet and exercise plan, you can expect significant improvements in how you feel physically, your self-esteem, and your sexual life. These benefits tend to stick around even if you gain a small amount of weight back later, as long as you maintain a stable weight. Focus on the initial loss and then consistent maintenance rather than perfection.

Significant improvements in all outcomes, except weight-related public distress, were found following the 14-week LCD program... Improvements were largely maintained during the 52-week randomized controlled trial, despite weight regain of 2.0 to 2.5 kg across treatment groups.
