High dietary cholesterol intake (≥538 mg/day) is associated with a significantly increased risk of high total cholesterol and high LDL-C in Chinese metropolitan adults, particularly women.
For Chinese metropolitan adults, consuming more than 538 mg of dietary cholesterol daily is linked to higher risks of high total cholesterol and LDL-C, especially for women. While current guidelines may not enforce a strict limit, monitoring intake to stay below this threshold may be prudent for lipid management.

The highest quintile of dietary cholesterol intake (≥538.0 mg/day) was associated with an approximate 1.6-fold risk for high TC and high HDL-C compared with the lowest quintile (<193.1 mg/day) generally. Consuming ≥538.0 mg dietary cholesterol daily correlated with an increased risk of high LDL-C by 1.8 times compared with the lowest quintile (<193.1 mg/day) in women.
