Adherence

Stricter parental control of eating during childhood (childhood intake control) is inversely associated with adult BMI in French populations.

If you grew up with strict rules about food, you might now rebel against diet advice. This study suggests that in some cultures, early structure actually helps maintain a healthier weight. If you struggle with weight, consider that your current resistance to 'rules' might be a reaction to past strictness. Try to reframe healthy eating as your own choice and power, not a restriction.
