Meal-triggered gastric contractility modulation (GCM) implantation in obese type 2 diabetes patients leads to significant weight loss and reduced systolic blood pressure compared to insulin therapy, while achieving comparable glycemic control with fewer medications.

For obese T2D patients struggling with weight gain from insulin, gastric electrical stimulation (GCM) offers a surgical alternative that promotes weight loss and lowers blood pressure while maintaining blood sugar control similar to insulin. It requires implantation and programming but may reduce medication burden.
