Reduction in chin subcutaneous adipose tissue (chin-SAT) is independently associated with improvements in glycemic control (fasting glucose, HbA1c, HOMA-IR) and lipid profiles, even after adjusting for changes in visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and waist circumference.

Losing chin fat may be a sign of improving metabolic health, specifically insulin sensitivity. While you cannot spot-reduce, the reduction of this specific fat depot correlates with better blood sugar control, independent of how much belly fat you lose.

After adjustment to VAT, waist-circumference, or weight-changes, chin-SAT 18-month reduction was associated with favorable changes in fasting-glucose (β = 0.10; p = 0.05), HbA1c (β = 0.12; p = 0.03), and homeostasis-model-assessment-of-insulin-resistance (β = 0.12; p = 0.03).
