Your weight matters for your long-term health, even if you aren't clinically obese. Staying within a normal BMI range (18.5-24.9) or at least avoiding the 'overweight' category (25-29.9) significantly lowers your risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. Focus on maintaining a stable, healthy weight rather than just treating obesity after it occurs.
Both overweight and obesity are associated with the incidence of multiple co-morbidities including type II diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Maintenance of a healthy weight could be important in the prevention of the large disease burden in the future.
