As you age, prioritize strength training over just building muscle size. Your muscles may shrink slowly, but your ability to generate force declines much faster. Focus on maintaining or increasing your strength (e.g., through resistance training) to preserve independence and reduce mortality risk, as strength is a better predictor of health outcomes than muscle mass alone.
